Founded in 1998 by writer Éric Hazan, La Fabrique Éditions is an independent publishing house known for its bold and thought-provoking essays.
It works with a wide range of authors covering topics such as feminism, anti-racism, ecology, and the history of the 20th and 21st centuries.
As the number of beneficiaries increased, the publisher’s approach to rights management needed to evolve, especially in terms of accuracy and scalability.
How La Fabrique Éditions managed its rights before Crealo
Before using Crealo, the team handled copyright and royalty calculations using Excel. This fully manual system often led to errors and lacked the automation necessary for reliable rights management.
With more contracts to manage, variable royalty rates, advances, and ancillary rights, the complexity of the process grew significantly.
Alternative software solutions were considered either too expensive or ill-suited to the publisher’s specific needs, particularly when it came to managing Urssaf payments and author advances.
